Women of Drummer Southwest Gathering

How fitting that the Women of Drummer inaugural gathering began at The Anvil in Phoenix, Arizona. An Anvil, a hard black tool, is used to beat and form a piece of metal into a new purpose. Drummer has reincarnated itself in the 21st century as Drummer North American and includes gay men celebrating every fetish and now Leatherwomen are coming together as well as part of the 21st century Women of Drummer movement. It was at the Anvil that women both old and new to leather chose to gather for the first time. Leatherwomen from Phoenix, Tuscon, Las Vegas and San Diego came together to laugh, introduce themselves and find kindred spirits.

They were greeted by local, Mark Greene, International Drummerboy 2001, Women of Drummer owner, Toni Solenne, Executive Producer, Fidget and Southwest Coordinator, Wish. Mark welcomed the women to Phoenix and to Drummer. He recited Henry David Thoreau’s poem, “If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away”. Many of the women had never met one another and the evening was one of introductions and relationship building.

The next day, Women of Drummer hosted a round table for women to talk about themselves, the local and regional scene and the Women of Drummer North American movement. The group discussed differences between various communities, similarities between their experiences and the importance of heart, connection, and spirit in their leather expression. The discussion also included ways one can participate in the Women of Drummer movement all year round through blogs, twitter, instagram photographs, video, gatherings and the annual DNA/WOD contest weekend.

Saturday evening featured a womens play party at Porche’s Den of Indomitus dungeon. The social room provided a place for smoking and chatting while a series of other rooms provided sexy spaces where women were spanked and flogged on benches, whipped bound on crosses, and fucked on slings. An excellent mix of music filled the space with a great mix of beats and tones to create a place and space for women to be together.

The weekend concluded with a brunch where a registration package to the DNA/WOD contest weekend February 22-25, 2018 was given to the lucky winner of the raffle, Boy Mo from the Phoenix area. Women of Drummer would like to thank the wonderful leathermen at the Anvil for sharing space with us Friday night, the Rock and Den of Indomitus for renting us space, Wish for coordinating the weekend and all of the sexy women who joined us for part or all of this inaugural weekend!

The gatherings continue in Toronto, June 9-10, in Kansas City, June 23-24, in Atlanta, July 14-15, in Portland, July 28-29, in Pennsylvania, Sept 15-17 and all come together in Las Vegas February 22-25. For those that hear our drum, we are never far away. You can find us online 24/7 and we welcome your blogs, videos, and photos all year round.
